J.L. Jackson
Birthday: September 27
Anniversary: October 20
J.L. is co-founder of The Spokesmen along with Linwood . The original bass for the group, J.L. has subsequently sang every part in the group. Upon needing a tenor singer and with dates to fill, J.L. went from bass to tenor in order that the dates would be filled. Twenty-eight years later he went back to the bass part where he originally started. What a fantastic range. He is now singing baritone and is happy to be on the part that he loves best. Featured on many songs at their personal appearances, he is a crowd favorite and one of the finest baritone singers in gospel music.
J.L. is responsible for the arrangements and song production of the group. He is also responsible for managing the sound at all their performances. He is the reason for the consistent sound of The Spokesmen throughout the years.
J.L. is married to Rita. Rita is RETIRED. When he is not singing, J.L. is the Pastor of 2 United Methodist Churches. He has 3 children, Chris, Heather and Kim, and three grandchildren. He too feels that God has a purpose for all of us and his is presenting God's message through song.
"God has been good to The Spokesmen for many years. There has never been a time that God has failed us. There has never been a day when God's message needs to reach the hearts of people more than today! May God continue to use The Spokesmen to reach those needy hearts through our ministry."
